To be considered for the same program:

• 💬 List your friend(s) or group name in the application
   
• 🏫 If you’re traveling with a academic or professional group (e.g.,  university, college,  etc.), be sure to indicate that too
   
• ⏳ Apply early — applications are reviewed first come, first served

How Do I Request standard Vegetarian Meals?

If you follow a standard vegetarian diet, please let us know in advance so we can plan accordingly.

To request vegetarian meals, you must either:

• ✅ Indicate your preference on your program application
   
• ✉️ Or email our office no later than 65 days before your departure
   

We’re happy to offer vegetarian options, but advance notice is required to guarantee availability during your immersion experience.

• Food or Severe food allergies
   
• Medically prescribed diets

Please know that we’ll do our best to accommodate you. However, in some cases,  beyond standard vegetarian options, you may need to supplement meals at your own expense to ensure your nutritional needs are fully met.

💵 Most volunteers find that $150–$300 USD is more than enough for optional personal expenses like souvenirs, special snacks, or small gifts. Since many items are typically less expensive abroad than in the U.S., your money can go further than you might expect.

💰 Bring a Backup Emergency Fund

You never know what may come up — a last-minute issue with your personal travel arrangements, a medical need, or not expected issue.

• Plan ahead and set aside extra funds in a separate account you can access internationally.

• Even if you don’t need it, you’ll feel more confident knowing you’re prepared.
