In Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic, an optional Spanish Language Week is available, taking place one week prior to Phase One of your structured service-learning immersion. This week prepares you for deeper engagement, more meaningful relationships with community members, and more effective service from day one. This optional pre-program week is separately provided and billed and is not included in the Signature 21-Day Immersion price. Program provider & payment details →

Dates

When Your Spanish Week Starts

Offered on Dominican Republic and Costa Rica immersions from summer 2027. The week always runs immediately before Phase One, so you never have to work it out from the calendar yourself.

Standard start — the Sunday one week before. For every summer offering, and for any immersion that does not begin the day after Christmas, your Spanish week begins on the Sunday seven days before your immersion’s published start date.
Winter start — nine days before. Immersions that depart on December 26 begin their Spanish week nine days before the published start date instead, so the week clears Christmas Day and you can celebrate the holiday.
