Academic Credit

Earn Academic Credit
for Your Service-Learning Immersion

Phase One โ€” the 14-day service immersion โ€” is the component eligible for independent study, internship, or transfer credit arrangements.

Overview

Structured Service-Learning Eligible for Academic Credit

Our immersions are built by an educator with doctoral credentials in behavior change who has developed service-learning courses and internships across diverse healthcare settings, so the academic scaffolding your registrar will ask about already exists. Phase One โ€” the 14-day service immersion โ€” is the component eligible for independent study, internship, or transfer credit arrangements at participating institutions with our Help2Serve.Care programs.

If you plan to pursue academic credit, it is your responsibility to initiate the approval process with your academic advisor or department prior to departure. Start these conversations as early as possible.

Students from more than 150 colleges and universities across the U.S. and Canada have earned independent study or internship credit โ€” in disciplines including nursing, public health, business, environmental studies, applied sciences, languages, and more.

Academic Credit FAQs

There is no formal deadline, but begin early to ensure approval before departure. When completing your Placement Details Form (due 105 days prior to departure), indicate your plan to earn academic credit so Help2Serve.Care can consider this when making project placements.

Credit allocation is determined solely by your university and supervising faculty member, based on your institution's policies. Help2Serve.Care cannot determine credit amounts.

No. With guidance from your advisor, you may follow the Help2Serve.Care Course Syllabus, or develop a customized course outline tailored to your academic goals. Custom evaluations are available for a $50 fee.

Yes. While observational learning and literature-based analysis are encouraged, students may not conduct applied, experimental, or manipulative research involving humans or animals. Contact Help2Serve.Care with any questions about acceptable academic activities.

Courses & Internships
Built, Not Borrowed

Service-learning courses and internships across diverse healthcare settings were developed by the same people who run these immersions. That is why the learning outcomes map cleanly to a syllabus rather than being reverse-engineered after the fact.
